Caroline Ledédenté discovered natural wine in Paris in 2012 and spent five years as a sommelier in the city's top natural wine bars, including Clown Bar and Sauvage. She then studied viticulture and organic winemaking at the Montmorot school in the Jura, earning a BTS with organic certification. After training under Grégoire Perron of La Combe Aux Rêves in Savoie, Caroline settled in the dramatic, cliff-edged valleys of southern Bugey, near Artemare. She made her first vintage in 2018 from just 0.28 hectares, purchasing additional grapes from local organic growers. By 2019, she was working exclusively with her own fruit. Caroline seeks out small, isolated parcels of native varieties surrounded by trees and biodiversity — fruit trees planted among the vines, beneficial micro-climates, and rich animal life. Her curiosity drives a myriad of cuvées made in tiny quantities, some limited to just 24 bottles. The wines show remarkable purity, alpine freshness, and expressive detail.

Approach

Philosophy

Everything is organically farmed and there are absolutely no additives at any point during the winemaking process, including sulfites. The wines are never fined or filtered. Caroline chooses zero sulfite additions because she sees each wine as a discovery — a piece of work captured at one moment in time. She values wines that address the senses differently, with energy, purity, and length. Her approach emphasizes identity and singular style over conventional AOC regulations, bottling under Vin de France to allow greater creative freedom. Labels are hand-drawn linocuts, reflecting her artisanal approach to every detail.
